Duties and responsibilities (the following duties are normal for this position and not to be considered all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned).
- Provide supervision to counseling staff and assistance with case management of patients admitted to the program.
- Demonstrate competency in areas specified under alcohol and drug counselor qualifications.
- Provide ongoing education and training to all staff members.
- Review and sign off on a ADC trainees and interns progress notes, reviews, treatment plans, transfer and service termination documents.
- Lead weekly supervision meetings.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and daily report.
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- Must have a current Minnesota State Licensure as a Alcohol and Drug Counselor
- Must have three or more years of experience of providing individual and group counseling to individuals with substance use disorder.
- Must know and understand all rules, regulations, and requirements of the assigned program.
- Must document 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems and chemical abuse of dependency that includes competencies related to philosophy, screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, documentation, programming, medication, collaboration, mental health consultation, discharge planning.
- On-going training on cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
- Computer literate.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
- Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities.
- Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting.
