Description

Lactation Educator RN in our Postpartum unit at Providence Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, CA. This is a part-time position that will work 8-hour Day shifts and rotating weekends.

Independently receives nursing/physician lactation consultation orders in the inpatient setting and provides consults in the outpatient setting for discharged patients. Uses information from a variety of sources to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes, and evaluate patient's plan of care. Develops treatment plan based on individualized patient needs. Provides evidence-based breastfeeding to new mothers. Provides training and updates for Women and Infant staff and physicians.

Required qualifications:

  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • IBCLC certification upon hire (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant)
  • 2 years of Experience as a Lactation Consultant in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new programs and services.
  • Experience in facilitating support groups and teaching.
  • Computer experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Experience in leadership.
  • Experience in working with postpartum depression.
