Mahmee is seeking a highly talented and experienced Lactation Program Trainer to join our Learning & Development team. In this role, you will be working as a part of the Learning and Development team and work closely with the lactation department. You will help to improve, implement, and deliver our clinical training program to support our virtual and in-person maternal healthcare service lines, including but not limited to lactation services.
The goal of this role is to train Lactation Consultants to successfully complete our lactation training program where the consultants are able to effectively perform their job-related roles and responsibilities
The knowledge you'll need to have on day one to be successful in this role:
- Understanding of most current evidence-based research in lactation and maternal healthcare.
- Lactation counseling techniques, communication skills, and counseling strategies; prior or current certification in IBCLC
- Adult learning principles and the ability to apply them in training programs
- Proficiency in using learning management systems and e-learning software.
Specific skills are essential for success in this role. Top candidates will have demonstrated skills in:
- Presenting instructional content in live virtual and in-person settings
- Developing clinical training materials, including presentations, handouts, and assessments
- Organizing training materials and effectively facilitating lesson plans while adhering to established timeframes
- Providing clinical lactation care or instructional clinical training to Lactation Consultants in various settings and topics
- Maintaining a patient-facing lactation education library using current evidence-based information
Primary responsibilities in this role will be:
- Training: Deliver training programs and onboarding for our Lactation Consultant training program. Lead training for our virtual and in-person staff using various tools (live presentations, role-plays, job aides, and e-learning modules). Travel with trainees in the field during patient visits (in-home, in-physician office, and Mahmee clinics) and observe demonstration of skills and knowledge.
- Content Creation and Protocols: Write, review, and update patient facing educational materials for lactation that will be referenced by the clinical staff for learning and assigned to patients as care plan items. Update lactation care protocols to align with new and existing lactation procedures.
- Evaluate: Assess the effectiveness of the lactation training program via feedback forms and ratings and make recommendations for improvements. Ensure trainees progress on curriculum timelines via in-person observation, graded assessments, assignments, and reported data.
- Skills Improvement: Provide ongoing training and development to improve the skills and knowledge of our lactation team. Facilitate reinforcement training related to staff performance improvement needs as directed by the Lactation Program Lead.
