Patient Care & Assessment - Assist & assess the mother/infant couplet for
successful breastfeeding. Develop & implement a Plan of Care and discharge
plan for mother/infant couplets experiencing breastfeeding difficulty. Documents
ongoing assessments of patient's physical and emotional status in order to
address patient needs appropriately.
Develop & implement standards of care for assisting nursing mothers. Participate
in Quality initiatives/committees that influence outcomes. Develop & implement
breastfeeding/pumping competencies for staff RN's.
Teaching prospective parents breastfeeding information in Prenatal classes.
Provide education/inservices to staff RN's, pediatric residents, medical & nursing
students.
