About the Role:

Location: Candidates must be based in Morristown, NJ.

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing evidence-based education, assistance, and support to breastfeeding mothers and infants through both in-person and telehealth consultations. This role involves offering appropriate follow-up assistance as needed and coordinating care to ensure continuity. Additionally, this role includes using our internal systems to coordinate breast pump rental and retail services, contributing to a comprehensive support system for breastfeeding mothers. We take care of insurance billing, providing peace of mind to you and the patient. This is a contractor opportunity.

Contract Details:

• This position is offered on a contractor basis.
• The salary range for each consultation is $40-$100 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• You’ll need professional liability insurance to protect you and your patients.
• Duration of the contract, hours, and flexibility will be discussed during the hiring process.
• Clients will have 100% insurance coverage for services.
• Flexible scheduling to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert lactation consultation to clients referred by our company, ensuring a seamless, supportive experience.
• Offer flexible consultation options, including at-home visits, virtual consultations, or a combination of both, as per client preference.
• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge of breastfeeding processes, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, as well as psychosocial issues affecting new mothers and their babies.
• Possess a deep understanding of newborn care, ranging from premature to toddler age.
• Utilize highly specialized skills in assessment, intervention, diagnosis, and evaluation of breastfeeding, capable of handling complex lactation situations.
• Actively support breastfeeding and provide personalized guidance to mothers, aiding them in achieving their breastfeeding goals.
• Utilize customized care management system for consistent and accurate documentation of member contact, status, needs and outcomes.
• Serves as an advocate to patients, providing support with their health concerns related to pregnancy and postpartum.
• Refers members to community-based resources that can assist the member with self-care needs.

Qualifications:

• Current IBCLC certification preferred; other qualified, credentialed lactation professionals will be considered;
• At least one year of experience working with families in the field of lactation
• Willingness to travel 30 minutes to an in-person consult
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic, effective guidance both in-person and through digital platforms.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a flexible schedule.
• Proficiency using Google Calendar, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image telephonically and in person.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $100.00 per hour

• Weekends as needed
