RESPONSIBILITIES: The Journeyman Laborer is responsible for providing support to the overall operations of the Field Construction team. He/she must possess a "committed team" attitude in order to carry out the primary functions as set forth below.
- JOB SITE CONSTRUCTION LABOR
Perform general and miscellaneous job-site construction related activities as assigned by Superintendent, including the following, with supervision:
- Form, pour and finish concrete work.
- Install misc. underground drains.
- Install misc. underground pipe and conduits.
- Perform concrete cutting and patchwork.
- Perform wood and metal framing pick up work.
- JOB SITE MAINTENANCE
- Keep job sites neat, organized and safe.
- Maintain in neat and orderly manner the supply area, dumpster area and job trailer.
- Sweep streets and sidewalks when necessary.
- Maintain erosion control measures as required at job sites.
- JOB SITE SAFETY & SECURITY
- Ensure that project safety measures and procedures are followed at all times.
- Make sure open trenches and holes are clearly marked with security barriers.
- Install and remove temporary sidewalks and pathways as necessary.
- De-ice and shovel snow on projects during construction as necessary.
- Report hazardous conditions to Operations Manager.
- EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS MAINTENANCE
- Maintain company owned vehicles and equipment, including regular service maintenance.
- Maintain and inventory company-owned tools and supplies.
- Use, maintain and secure all rental equipment properly.
- GENERAL
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Three (3) plus years of experience in the Commercial Construction industry performing job site construction activities.
- Completion of apprenticeship program is required; sufficient replacement experience aceptable
- Ability to take and follow instructions with minimum supervision.
- Possess and maintain a positive, can-do, team oriented attitude.
- Knowledgeable with commercial site work and building construction activities.
- Willingness and ability to perform multiple construction activities.
- Knowledgeable and skilled with hand tools, electric and gas powered saws, drills, pumps, compactors, generators, pressure washers, pumps, etc.
- Ability to operate light duty equipment and machinery, including forklift, small backhoe, sweepers, etc.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to perform manual work, including lifting objects up to 100 pounds.
- Drug & alcohol testing and completion of a personal profile questionnaire as requested are conditions of employment
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and proof of auto insurance per state requirements
- Submit Abstract of complete driving record from the Wa St. Department of Licensing
- Must have reliable transportation
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification desired but not necessary (willing to obtain certification upon request).
