Who we are:
- Dellavalle Laboratory is an agricultural consulting firm and laboratory. We have been helping our clients make efficient and profitable decisions since 1978 and are looking for team members with that same vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving incoming samples into the laboratory to ensure quality data to our clients and that we are working to meet the proper turnaround times.
This position will be a 5:00 am start time, Full-Time handling grinding and weighing in the laboratory.
Duties/Responsibilities:
May be responsible for one or more of the following based on training and the needs of Dellavalle Laboratory, Inc. at any given time. All levels may be responsible for assisting with the following:
Level I
• Weighs soil and tissue samples for various analyses, including, but not limited to:
• Digest, TN, Chlorides, Soil Zn, PO4-P, K, and paste
• Maintains balance, reagent, and other calibration logbooks in the laboratory.
• Assists in the pasting of soil samples.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Level II
• Same as level I duties.
• Performs soil pasting and assists in soil paste pH, Ec, and extraction.
• Performs soil and plant extractions by adding extract, shaking, filtering and tubing samples for analysis.
• Performs general bench chemistry lab analysis i.e., LR, MA, and chloride analysis.
• Ability to monitor the Quality Control for the bench chemistry tests performed. Ensuring that reportable guidelines are met for samples and any QC failures are handled appropriately by taking action to re-calibrate and re-run the samples or sending them back to reweigh and re-run the samples.
• Performs plant digestions.
• Responsible for making and maintaining adequate amounts of extraction and other miscellaneous reagents.
• Ability to train other team members in various bench chemistry methods and general lab tasks including the use of all lab logbooks and other laboratory supporting documentation.
Level III
• Same as level II duties.
• Capable of operating, maintaining and troubling shooting the more advanced instrumentation in the laboratory (LECO, FIA, ICP)
• Capable of preparing all reagents and standards for these instruments
• Maintaining all maintenance, calibration standard and reagent logbooks for these instruments
• Responsible for processing all data generated by running these instruments.
• Responsible for following all appropriate QC guidelines including identifying QC failures and rerunning samples when appropriate.
Full Time/Seasonal Position - March to Sept/October.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience is preferred but not required.
• Background in Laboratory or science-based education preferred but not required.
