Duties and Responsibilities:
- Essential Functions:
- Performs specimen accession procedures according to the Laboratory Procedures Manual.
- Distributes and stores specimens appropriately.
- Performs crosscheck of specimens accessioned by colleagues.
- Contacts transplant programs and dialysis centers to follow-up on specimens with discrepancies.
- Receives and responds to incoming requests by phone, fax, and/or email.
- Plans, implements, and reports to staff meetings effectively on quality assurance or other assignments.
- Reads, understands, and complies with Network and Laboratory policies and procedures, N.J., CAP, ASHI and UNOS regulations and standards.
- Maintains equipment and facilities in a clean and orderly manner. Observes all Network and Laboratory safety precautions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Biology or related science studies preferred.
- Must participate in 7 hours of approved continuing education activities per year to maintain current knowledge and skills in the field.
- Must accept assignment to any shift as determined by the director to be in the best interest of the laboratory’s duty to the patients.
