ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPIONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but other duties may be assigned as business needs require.
- Must be able to safety work in a chemical laboratory and pilot plant setting. This includes understanding and practicing the Company’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures.
- Prepare test matrices & test plans & work with internal & external customers to price and schedule test projects.
- Conduct material & process testing to support R&D, Quality Control, Engineering and Production Support functions.
- Perform raw material, intermediate and finished product testing and report results.
- Maintain notebooks and computer files in a neat and organized manner to facilitate data archive and retrieval.
- Maintain the lab equipment and calibrations as required to ensure accurate and consistent results.
- Conduct required testing for Environmental and Plant Utilities to ensure compliance to permit requirements.
- Participate in the safety and quality improvement activities in the pilot plant as applicable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- A minimum of an Associate degree in a science related field is preferred.
- 4-5 years practical, hands-on experience.
- Basic computer skills in MS Excel and MS Word.Ability to learn new software a plus.
- Must be able to read, write and perform simple mathematical functions. Basic understanding of statistics also a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead by example.
- Working knowledge of the chemistry and chemical processes.
- Must have the skills and experience to evaluate chemical process yields, material usage efficiency, cycle times, capacities, material purities, material & process control.
- Takes initiative and follows through on tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Willingness to grow with the company and accept new challenges.
