The Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB, https://research.gatech.edu/bio) is located in Georgia Tech's thriving Biotechnology Complex was launched in 1995. IBB serves to catalyze new research and education initiatives at the interface of bioengineering and bioscience and integrate the broad range of bio-related activities throughout Georgia Tech and its partner institutions.
This position is within IBB's Molecular Evolution Core Facility. To learn more, please go here - research.gatech.edu/bio/research/core-facilities. The role will work on programs such as the Biotechnology Skill Development and TipCycle Programs (https://tipcycle7.wixsite.com/tipcycle).
As part of the Biotechnology Skill Development Program, this role will include responsibilities such as:
Program Leadership:- Spearhead the program¿s strategic vision and implementation.Establish a collaborative roundtable for interdisciplinary mentors, fostering knowledge exchange and innovation.
- Serve as the liaison between the program and industry partners.Cultivate strong relationships, ensuring alignment of objectives and cross-functionality.
- Present and pitch the program across the nation.Showcase its impact and unique value proposition.
- Recruit talented students passionate about biotechnology and interdisciplinary collaboration.Shape a diverse cohort of participants.
- Act as the face of the initiative as a successful program graduateInspire other students and highlight program achievements
- Schedule student shifts, aid in training, organize essential student projects such as web development, media design, & performance tracking/optimization.Drive customers acquisition endeavors to popularize services across campus and partners.
Provide functional oversight to operation of an instructional or research laboratory. Activities include instruction in lab procedures and safety, development of lab procedures, conducting experiments, budgeting and purchasing, equipment and inventory maintenance and maintaining records. May provide work direction to student assistants. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and/or research faculty members, staff and students, vendor/suppliers. ResponsibilitiesJob Duty 1 -
Provide instruction to lab users on proper use of lab equipment, lab safety, protocols and procedures related to conducting experiments
Job Duty 2 -
Prepare and administer laboratory budget; purchase supplies and equipment and maintain related records

Maintain laboratory facility in safe, clean and organized manner

Coordinate scheduling of lab usage

Develop and implement laboratory policy and procedures; incorporate best practices as appropriate

Calibrate lab instrumentation and maintain lab equipment

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of instructional or research laboratory operation to include equipment calibration and maintenance, laboratory processes and procedures and lab safety rules and practices. Skills in communication, customer service, work guidance and instruction are required as is the use of specialty and general computer applications.
Job Grade: S7
Salary range: $69,026 to $70,000 depending on experience level.
This role is primarily dependent on sponsored research. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon funding.
Due to the responsibilities of this position, this role requires 100% onsite presence on Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus.
Requires lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable driving a club cart.
