Job Summary
The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for serving and protecting patients by identify each patient, accurately collecting and processing patient samples, providing patient-centered care, and actively supporting patients and their families. Responsible for specimen receiving and stabilizing the samples, packaging send-outs, shipping, distribution of specimens within the laboratory, and clerical functions including, but not limited to, computer data entry, telephone reception, and other general lab functions.
Pay Range
Minimum $21.13 Midpoint $28.00 Maximum $34.87
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
  • Required: Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Preferred: Two (2) or more years of infant and children blood collection experience.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent. Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program.
  • Preferred: Completion of some college level courses.
Specialized Skills
  • Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Be a team player; ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in human venipuncture techniques. Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking judgment, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
Licensure
  • Required: Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1
Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Sedentary - Very light energy level Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart.
