POSITION SUMMARY
As Lab Assistant III, a senior-level position within the laboratory, you will be part of a team that strives to uphold Unio Health Partners' mission to provide the highest level of care. You will be responsible for performing advanced laboratory tasks and providing critical support to researchers, scientists, pathologist, and other professional personnel in some phases of the technical laboratory work. This role involves preparing different reagents, solutions and culture media used in the laboratory tests; complex laboratory procedures, perform gross analysis of surgical specimen types, data analysis, and maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment. This position goes above and beyond to keep the lab running efficiently and effectively.
What you will be doing
- Conduct advanced laboratory tests, dissect and description on any type of surgical specimens, small biopsies, and staining, embedding and procedures with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate proficiency in specialized techniques and methodologies relevant to the laboratory's field, including working with different reagents being used for tissue processing.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues and malfunctions.
What you will bring to the team
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or related discipline
- Significant laboratory experience, preferably in anatomical pathology or specialized laboratory environment
- 3-6 years of relevant laboratory experience, proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques and procedures
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Commitment to safety and compliance with laboratory regulations.
- Knowledge of current blood borne pathogen and bio-hazardous waste procedures as they apply to the duties of this position.
- Knowledge of CDPH, CLIA, CAP, and State and Federal laws that apply to the duties of this position in a moderate to high complexity laboratory.
