SBM Management is looking to hire a Labor Relations Manager to join the team in the Midwest to focus on our Automotive Vertical!
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility will be to manage all aspects of Labor Relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, resolving disputes, and promoting a harmonious work environment.
- Strategic insight, business savvy, and polished and professional communication skills will be essential in promoting productive relationships and minimizing disruptions caused by labor-related issues.
- Travel regularly to provide support to various SBM locations in the Midwest with a strong focus on Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Labor Relations strategy aligned with the SBM’s goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with operations’ leadership, employees, and union leadership.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide guidance on labor-related matters and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Provide training sessions for employees, supervisors, and management to enhance their understanding of Labor Relations policies, practices, and legal requirements.
- Manage and mediate labor-related disputes, grievances, and conflicts between management, employees, and labor unions.
- Work to find mutually acceptable solutions, addressing concerns and minimizing disruptions to operations.
- Advise management on disciplinary actions, terminations, and other matters to ensure compliance with the union contract regarding personnel policies.
- Support investigations and documentation of employee issues or violation of company code of conduct, collective bargaining agreement or any company policy.
- Serve as a resource for managers regarding contract interpretation and application of HR policies and programs.
- Assist with arbitration hearing preparation.
- Assist with developing and revising union contracts, leading labor management meetings, and preparing documentation related to Labor Relations assignments.
Qualifications
- Willingness to travel regularly to support business in multiple cities and state's.
- Prior experience with United Auto Workers (UAW) union is a plus!
- 3+ years leading Labor Relations in a union environment.
- Undergraduate degree in HR, or related field of study.
- 5+ years Human Resources experience in increasingly responsible positions.
- Problem solving with flexibility and sensitivity to both the needs of the individual and the business is a plus.
- Polished and professional communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to all levels of the organization.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Skilled in understanding and explaining labor contracts, resolving disputes, and negotiating wages and policies.
- Skilled in developing proposals for rules regarding collective bargaining agreements between labor unions and management, and they do their due diligence to make sure grievances are legitimate before bringing them to management’s attention.
Available Shift: Full Time
Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
