Labor/ Burner Helpers

Day: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Swing: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm, Graveyard: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am

$19.09/hour plus shift differential (Swing Shift = $.65/hour, Graveyard = $.85/hour)

Only candidates willing to work this rotating shift will be considered for a position.

JOB SUMMARY

Pacific Clay Products, a brick manufacturing company in Lake Elsinore, CA is seeking a highly motivated full time Burner Helper to assist Kiln Burner in maintaining tunnel kiln in operation during shift worked and is responsible for safely operating mobile equipment to transfer ware into and out of kiln. This is a union position.

All positions will begin through a temporary agency for the 1st 30 days. Those who succeed in their position will become Pacific Clay employees and a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

Training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains fuel as needed in kilns.

Operates dryer.

Dismantles and cleans burners and other equipment.

Moves ware into and out of kiln, holding room, dryer, and packaging area.

May perform routine maintenance.

Operates transfer cars, tractor and hydraulic ram.

Documents location of product.

Other duties may be assigned

Must be willing and physically able to work general labor duties as needed when not performing duties of regular position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

· Knowledge of combustion and tunnel kilns, draft and pressure gauges a plus.

· Ability to read temperature charts, keep records and understand kiln and dryer operation.

· Lift and carry 50 lbs.

· Communicate in English

· Read, interpret and act of written orders

· Understand and follow company procedures

· Must be able to work overtime

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift license required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or grip objects, tools or controls and talk, walk and hear. The employee is constantly required to stand and occasionally sit and walk. Will frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The ability to hear oral conversations are required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to wind, dust and occasionally rain. Adverse conditions include high heat, humidity and cold. The employee will wear hearing protection and eye protection. The employee will work with various chemicals, oils and grease.

Successful candidate must submit to a post offer pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and background check.
