Job Purpose: Provide phlebotomy care to patients in professional manner. Provide accurate documentation of all labs and test performed.
Job Duties:
- Informs physicians of all critical labs.
- Reports lab tests results in a timely manner to the physicians.
- Keeps lab clean and organized.
- Keeps lab supplies stocked.
- Verifies correct patient by asking for date of birth prior to collecting specimen, logs the test on Lab Tracking form.
- Completes all tests and prepare specimens to be sent to an outside lab.
- Draws, documents and orders all labs performed.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
- Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Conforms to all clinic policies outlined in the employee manual or received verbally from a supervisor.
- Keeps all licensures current.
- Performs any other task assigned by a supervisor.
Must have 1-2 years of consecutive lab experience. Must be willing to work as a team. Must be able to stand for long hours. Must have good organizational skills and time management. Must be able to work independently.
