Job description

Lab Technician I
Key Responsibilities
Skilled at performing routine clinical procedures such as: accessioning, sample preparation and processing, DNA/EV elutions, set up ELISA biomarker plates, operate Luminex analyzer (Quantification of Exosome Proteins), NTA, Qubit and/or Bioanalyzer protein contamination technique, PCR, column concentration, and specimen preparation.
Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance of designated lab instrumentation and equipment.
Demonstrates proficiency in documenting observations and study procedures correctly and legibly in the source document. Ensures that all data is recorded accurately and completely.
Provides general laboratory support functions (stock solution and buffer preps, aliquoting and labeling, lab organization and cleaning) to scientists and management.
Actively participates in regular team meetings and discussions to talk about ongoing projects and progress.
Demonstrates ability to learn and execute new experimental procedures with accuracy and efficiency in accordance with SOP/Work Instructions.
Produces accurate, valid data and analyzes results before submitting them to scientists for final review.
Maintains a detailed notebook of experimental designs and results and communicates these results along with recommendations for next steps to the team and cross-functionally as needed.
Works under detailed daily guidance. Contributions have impact on the overall team's objectives. Must understand overall department goals. Is a collaborative team player and demonstrates open-mindedness and flexibility. Collaborates on innovative and creative solutions to keep projects on-track. Maintains a high degree of quality in all work performed.

Experience, Education, and Skills Required
Typically requires a minimum of an Associate's degree in a scientific discipline or related certification, or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform serial dilutions & basic computations.
Demonstrated ability to work in a very detailed and accurate manner, upholding laboratory expectations.
Basic lab theory and fundamental hands-on knowledge of common laboratory techniques.
Experience or capability of working with a variety of moderate to complex research equipment.
Familiar with using a database or LIMS/LIS (Lab Information Management System/Lab Information System) strongly desired.
Competent with MS Office, including experience using Excel.
With a minimum of one week's notice, must have flexibility to occasionally work weekends and a different shift, if requested by management.
Demonstrates strong scientific/technical understanding and capabilities at a fundamental level. Regularly collaborates with more senior colleagues. Works on routine problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation. Exercises judgment within well-defined practices in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interprets data and draws conclusions regarding results used in presented material. Demonstrates attention to detail and basic level of understanding about accuracy and precision in the laboratory.
Must be able to understand job duties and responsibilities, have the necessary skills/knowledge, and be willing and able to continue learning and growing within the field.
Must be nimble and comfortable with rapidly changing priorities and responsibilities.
Must be skilled at managing a significant workload and obtaining successful results, taking on additional responsibility and managing priorities as needed.
Must be proactive and effective in achieving solutions and using data to achieve results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, punctual reports/information, as required, and thoroughly share information with others. Must be able to read, write and speak effectively.
Exceptional listening skills with the ability to seek constructive feedback, build relationships, promote teamwork, and remain flexible, humble, and open-minded.
Capable of following realistic plans, goal setting, resource management, contingency planning, coordinating, and cooperating with others.
Capable of working thoughtfully under pressure and in a timely manner.
Must be comfortable and capable of performing the job within the physical requirements and conditions necessary for the role.
