What makes a good Lab Technician?
A successful Lab Technician should have a minimum 2-year degree or 2 years of experience in laboratory setting ore relevant food industry experience. A Lab Technician understand statistics, microbiology and chemistry, quantitative analytical technique, auditing chemicals, metal detector, weight calibration and calibration of thermometers, food science and allergens, HACCP and GMPs.
Responsibilities:
- Basic responsibilities would be to conduct lab testing such as moisture test, salt test, environmental sample, line sample collection, pre-operation inspections, line audits, etc.

- Evaluates the incoming ingredients for compliance to ingredient specifications and administer specific tests.

Qualifications:

- Understanding of microbiology and chemistry

- Understanding of auditing & keeping a log of lots of chemicals
- Understanding of metal detector
- Understanding of weight calibration
- Understanding of calibration of thermometers
- Understanding of food science and allergens
- Understanding of sampling theory, environmental sampling, and samples to customers
- Understanding of HACCP and GMPs
- Understanding of supply chain of management and work design and flow

- Each shift is to have a lab technician. If one is sick or unable to come in, another lab tech needs to be available
