The Laboratory Supervisor of Hematology/Coagulation at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children oversees daily operations and supervision of technical staff in the laboratory, including the appraisal of performance and providing regular and annual performance feedback. Under the direction of the Section Director and Administrative Director, the Supervisor provides clinical and technical supervision to satisfy daily testing demands and department operations. The supervisor ensures accuracy and reliability of results, analyzes testing information to determine operating efficiency and compliance with quality indicators and maintains all standards in accordance with department, hospital, and regulatory agency requirements.
The Supervisor is responsible for the effective training of employees and students, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization's policies. The Supervisor participates in activities related to employee hiring, termination, reward and discipline as needed. The Supervisor also serves as a communication link between medical staff, nursing, and the laboratory, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other practitioners on special or difficult patient cases.

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Certification:
American Society of Clinical Pathology certification (MLS(ASCP), SH(ASCP) or H(ASCP)) preferred
MLS ASCP certification eligibility required
Experience:
≥4 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing for the specialty of hematology.
