McConway & Torley is looking for a QA Lab Supervisor. As a Lab Supervisor you will provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and quality operations.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
What you will do:
- Be able to run tests and supervise technicians taking tests.
- Take the lead on developing tests to meet the production requirements.
- Collect data, physically inspect, and prepare certifications for products to ensure they have been made to meet specifications.
- Must be able to breakdown, interpret, and organize information to produce a result or finding.
- Metallurgical Lead: Perform as the go-to person for in-house metallurgical questions. Collect metallurgical specifications and data in order to serve as a technical assistant to production as needed.
What you will need:
- Understanding of the following equipment: Spectrometer, tensile test, precise measuring equipment, etc
- Statistical Sampling: An understanding of sample testing to represent a result for a specified batch.
- Detail Oriented/Multi-Tasking: Must be a detail-oriented person. Recognize when something is different and ask why. Must be able to multi-task, while staying precise.
- Leadership: Provide instructions and leadership to quality personnel as needed.
- Team Player: Must be a team player and able to help others out at all times.
- 3 years relevant experience or degree in related field (Chemistry, Engineering, or Bachelors of Science).
- Laboratory equipment experience is required.
- Must be a team player and safety oriented
- Must have predictable attendance
Working Conditions:
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
