- This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to ( GM Global Technical Center- Cole Engineering Center Podium ) on a full-time basis
About the role:
As a Wireless Lab & Field Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting field & lab testing activities to assess the performance, reliability, and coverage of wireless networks and devices. You will play a critical role in gathering real-world data, analyzing network parameters, and identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement. Your expertise in wireless technologies and field-testing methodologies will be essential in ensuring the quality and efficiency of wireless networks and services.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Proficiency in wireless communication technologies and protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, 5G, and NFC is essential. Knowledge of wireless network architecture, signal processing, antenna design, and radio frequency (RF) engineering is also important.
- Proficiency in using Field Test equipment and tools (e.g., CMW500 spectrum analyzers, and Anritsu callbox).
- Hands on experience with Backoffice and call centers.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in field environments.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the performance of wireless networks and devices.
- Conduct Field Tests using specialized equipment and tools to measure network performance, coverage, and quality of service (QoS).
- Perform drive tests, walk tests, and stationary tests to assess signal strength, data throughput, latency, and other network parameters.
- Analyze Field Test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in wireless network performance.
- Generate comprehensive reports summarizing Field Test results, findings, and recommendations for optimization.
- Present findings and insights to project teams, management, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Investigate network issues, anomalies, and performance degradation identified during Field Tests.
- Work closely with network operations teams to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide recommendations for network optimization and enhancement based on Field Test findings.
- Communicate Field Test plans, status updates, and findings to project teams, management, and stakeholders.
Additional Job Description
Education/Additional Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to travel and work in various locations for Field Testing activities.
- Candidates should be familiar with setting up and configuring lab equipment, conducting tests, and troubleshooting issues.
- 3+ years of experience in Field Testing, preferably in the telecommunications or wireless industry.
- Strong understanding of wireless communication technologies and protocols (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi).
- Programming skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB is beneficial for developing software tools, performing data analysis, and scripting automated tests.
- Certifications such as CWTS, CCNA, CWNA, or equivalent is a plus.
