Jacobs is the world's top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers. Customers include not only the world's major vehicle providers and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), but also clients from the international motor sports community.
Our experience encompasses virtually every type of automotive test facility, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels; aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels; emissions test rooms; soak rooms; altitude chambers; engine and powertrain test cells; and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and build these facility systems assets but also operate, maintain, and manage these facilities.
Jacobs Crash Lab is in need of a Test Engineer for the afternoon shift. This position is an intergral part of vehicle prototype testing. The Crash Lab Test Engineer is a problem solver, using innovative technology to conduct testing and gain reliable results.
The Vehicle Crash Lab Test Engineer duties and responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for lab operations.
- Resolve operational issues and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
- Help identify and implement actions to improve quality, cost and timing.
- Provide support for the function and configuration of test control software and automated data processing tools.
- Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of lab metrics.
- Support vehicle program testing. Help resolve test performance concerns and assess data for anomalous behavior.
- When necessary complete root-cause analysis, non-conformance communication and response plans; document as 5D's when appropriate.
- Help monitor and react to the activities of regulatory bodies and industry groups/committees.
- Work with the lab to gather and communicate new device/test usability feedback.
- As needed, support capital projects for the lab. Conduct training and/or assist in the creation of training and process control materials.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. is Mechanical, Electrical, Biomechanical, or related program required.
- Familiar with data acquisition systems, control systems, various transducer technologies, design of experiments, and process control methods.
- Experience with vehicle crash safety test laboratory engineering is a plus
- Experience with Anthropomorphic Test Devices, and their application is desired.
- Candidate must be able to function as part of a team and work cooperatively toward team goals
- Highly organized; able to manage multiple long and short term projects effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient at using MS Office tools. Experience with data analysis tools desired.
- Personal vehicle for travel to and from work location preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card or TN Visa
- MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE AFTERNOON SHIFT: 3PM TO 11PM.

Criticality of Attendance

- Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work afternoons to cover weekend testing requirements.

- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, PHMV exam and background check.
