Job description

A family on the Upper East Side is looking for a well educated, experienced, and engaged nanny to join their household and care for, support, and be a role model for their two daughters, aged 8 and 11. The role will start in January and the family would love the nanny to stay for many years to come. The candidate will work on a rotating schedule of 3 on/ 5 on, as follows; 3 days on one week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday), then 5 days on the following week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and so on and so forth. The day will begin by managing the morning routine for both girls (helping them get ready for school and out the door/walking them to school etc.), through the evening routine (getting them to activities/ classes/ supervising homework, bedtime etc.).

Both girls attend school from roughly 8:00am-3:30pm, during which time candidates may be required to run errands for the family but will also essentially be free to do as they please around this. There is also a housekeeper who cooks for the family, so no food prep will be required. Candidates should expect to start early, at around 6:30/7:00am and finish around 8:00/9:00pm, but it’s important that candidates are flexible as both parents have extremely demanding jobs and won’t always be home at the same time every evening and may also travel for work from time to time. Essentially, candidates who are willing to live-in on their “on” days would be the best fit for this position.

The girls are very well behaved and independent, and attend a summer camp each year for 7 weeks, though candidates will still receive their guaranteed salary during this time. There will be 3 weeks during the summer and a few weekends in Spring when candidates will be required to work their same schedule, but in Nassau County, LI, where the family have their summer home. Candidates should be flexible, responsible, reliable and team players - this is a positive, collaborative household, and everyone pitches in and is respectful toward one another. The family prefer candidates to have a college degree, as well as proven longevity in previous positions.

The family are willing to pay very competitively for the best fit, including a healthcare stipend. A clean and current driving license is a huge plus, as is the ability to speak, read and write Hebrew (since the girls have Hebrew homework), though neither is essential. At the parents' request, candidates must be COVID vaccinated in order to apply to this role. If you are interested, with a US passport, Green Card or EAC, please apply to KP498.
