Kitchen Team Member | Coffee Shop
We are seeking a Kitchen Team Member to join our bustling coffee shop. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
We are a high end specialty coffee shop. We have a pastry program, small food menu, and grab and go fridge for food options to our dedicated coffee customers. We want to elevate the food experience to match the exceptional coffees that we offer. We sell a lot of pastries and as a Kitchen Team Member you will be baking off fresh pastries daily as well as prepping batter.
Our made to order food average $150-$250/day which is not a lot of food orders. Your job as a Kitchen Team Member is a fusion of baking/preping/ and short order assembly. You will be responsible to bake off pastries, prep batters, prep food items for service assembly and prep items for grab and go fridge. There is very little actual cooking and almost all assembly of items like avocado toast, bagel and lox, BLT, bagel and cream cheese, etc
Responsibilities:
- Bake off pastries in the morning for cafe
- Check on pastry case throughout the day and see if you need to bake off any more items than you initially baked in the morning
- Prepare batters for pastries for the week at both locations (we use this as our prep kitchen and prepare pastry batter for second location where they bake off frozen pastry fresh daily)
- Prepare items for grab and go fridge including: wraps, overnight oats, parfaits, salads and other seasonal items
- Assemble food items according to recipies and customer orders, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly
- Grab the bustub from the customer area when full
- be a team player and help out with dishes when the baristas are really busy out front
- Assist with inventory managment by letting Kitchen Lead know when we are running low on items
- Receiving and storing food supplies with a focus on rotating stock (FIFO)
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure compliance with health regulations and minimize the risk of foodborne illness
- Collaborate with kitchen lead and baristas to coordinate food orders and ensure timely service to customers
- Adhere to company policies including, looking presentable at work, attendance and punctuality requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, such as a restaurant, cafe, or catering service
- Basic understanding of food safety principles and sanitation practices
- Ability to work alone and stay busy the entire shift to complete daily task list
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Must be able to work early morning, weekends and holidays as needed

- Knowledge of culinary terminology and techniques is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
