Job Description
Position Summary
The Kitchen Staff is responsible for preparing nutrition-approved meals, breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children, cleaning up and maintaining the site kitchen, and monitoring food & kitchen supply inventory. In addition, assist teaching staff with children in classrooms and/or playgrounds as needed, under the direction of the Education Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Prepare meals that will be served to children during breakfast, lunch, and snack time.
- Wash and sanitize all food service equipment and materials used in preparing, cooking, transporting, serving, and storing food and non-food items.
- Ensure food safety by taking the temperature of food at delivery and before serving and confirming that refrigerators and freezers are operating properly.
- Provide feedback during annual menu planning meetings with the Preschool Health Team and Nutritionist and throughout the year.
- Work with the Education Supervisor and Health Coordinator to ensure quality from the food service provider.
- Prepare supply requests and take weekly inventory for kitchen and facility
- Track office and classroom supply inventory, create purchase orders for the operations team to purchase
- Complete daily kitchen Health and Safety Checks to ensure all equipment and supplies are prepared and cleaned. May also assist with outdoor Health and Safety Checks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist teachers by helping with children in classrooms and at bus pick-up/drop-off as requested.
- Assist staff with general office duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned

Position Range: $19.97 - $22.82 hourly, DORE

Physical Demands: To perform the job the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, stoop, and balance, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms. The incumbent will be required to carry materials weighing up to 40 lbs. on frequent basis, on an occasional basis lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions: The work is typically performed in an early childhood school environment, with moderate to loud noise levels.
