Kitchen Manager Position Summary:
Our growing restaurant group is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee all BOH operations at our new Restaurant located in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles.
In this coveted position, you will be responsible for managing and directing food prep and cooking, working the line when needed, and complying with all safety and cleaning standards. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and be successful in motivating teams.
Process:
- Prepares and cooks all food items, while assisting in the management of the staff. Works the kitchen line during service along side the staff.
- Ensures that all food items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the restaurant’s recipe, preparation and portion standards
- Conducts regular line checks, monitors stock levels and manages inventory to ensure recipe adherence in kitchen execution of all products served.
- Monitors food waste, and resolves food quality issues
- Properly identifies, stocks and dates prepped products and takes an active role in quality control of all food items. Maintains knowledge of all products/inventory in freezers and coolers, and assists in ensuring that all product/inventory are properly rotated to maintain freshness.
- Supervises food preparation in the kitchen and ensures that customers are satisfied
- Maintains clean working environments and makes sure that employees follow the restaurant’s preventive maintenance measures
- Keeps all refrigeration, storage, and working areas in clean, working condition in order to comply with Health Department regulations.
- Assist in inventory counts and orders
- Anticipate, identify, and correct any issues with inventory, systems, and staffing.
- Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules, and procedures.
- Must be dependable, report to work as scheduled and on time, and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance.
Customer Relations
- Provides and models excellent, professional customer service
- Ensures all orders are completed and delivered to customers in a timely manner
- Ensures all orders are prepared according to guests’ specifications
Team Management
- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among Team Members.
- Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors
- Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaches, mentors, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Trains new employees and provide ongoing training for all staff
- Ensures all team members are adequately trained at all stations within the kitchen
- Maintains knowledge of kitchen operating equipment and shares food preparation and cooking knowledge with coworkers in an effort to provide continuous learning experiences.
- Responsible for communicating side work assignments to Team Members and ensuring checklists and side work is completed before Team Members clock out.
- Inspects food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Conduct inspections of the restaurant and kitchen and ensure proper hygiene is maintained.
- Organizes opening and closing duties with team members
- Assists the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 + years of kitchen leadership experience required
- Culinary arts degree preferred
- Food Managers Certification required
- Proficient guest service, administrative and follow-up skills
- Equally comfortable communicating and working with guests, peers, subordinates, vendors or partners
- Intermediate to Advanced understanding of functions of food and beverage
- Advanced knowledge of Food, Health and Safety Regulations
- Availability to work during holidays, nights, and weekends with increased hours during peak times
- Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, bending and traversing stairs on a frequent basis

Pay Rate
- $65,000 - $84,000 per year, divided up as hourly pay with overtime and pooled tips with the rest of the team.
