The Youth Life Center of The Arts is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our dedicated kitchen staff and assist with the preparation of over 100 meals daily. We are located on 216 Valley Hill Road SW in Riverdale, GA. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, motivated, and reliable.
Duties
Responsibilities
- Sanitize and prepare equipment and workstation for cooking
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Mix, wash, peel, chop, grind, strain, slice meat and vegetables
- Perform basic cooking functions such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces and other food preparation.
- Follow recipes and prepare simple dishes
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Wash dishes and put away all cooking utensils
- Weigh and measure ingredients
- Stock inventory
- Label stock and inventory all ingredients
- Maintain health and safety guidelines
Requirements
Qualifications
- Must be computer savvy
- Cooking experience or working as food prep experience preferred
- Able to meet all scheduling commitments
- Able to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and proactively work to meet those needs
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to communicate and listen to team members
- Dedicated to working as a team towards one goal
- Strong verbal communication skills
