The Elementary Teacher is a member of the instructional professional staff who holds a certificate endorsed for the type of position in which employed. The teacher diagnoses, prescribes, evaluates, and directs student learning in terms of the school's objectives; shares responsibility with the total professional staff for developing educational procedures and student activities to be used in achieving the school's objectives; supervises educational aides assigned to their room; evaluates or assesses and reports student progress in terms of the objectives sought. The Elementary Teacher shall promote Christian education on all its levels as endorsement of the Christian philosophy, which forms the basis of education at CPCS.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education from an accredited college or university
- Indiana teaching certification for the subject or grade level taught

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning
- Develop lesson plans and objectives suitable to the needs of students to meet the school’s desired student outcomes.
- Plan thematic units to help students see wholeness and relevance in learning.
- Incorporate various teaching strategies to match the learning styles of all students.
- Discern and teach the Biblical principles that relate to the lesson content.
Teaching the Lesson
- Organize class time well with activities that have a clear purpose and engage student’s attention.
- Give clear directions and organized, cogent explanations.
- Use questions and explanations that promote clear thinking and awe in students.
- Listen carefully to students’ ideas and apply them to the lesson.
- Use gestures, body movement, and voice inflection effectively to generate interest and wonder in learning.
Classroom Management
- Establish a climate of care and love for students.
- Clearly define what is responsible Christian behavior for students.
- Help students develop self-discipline through appropriate use of correcting, consequences, and counseling.
- Organize time, space, procedures, and materials for effective, efficient learning.
Professional Conduct and Growth
- Communicate with parents about student progress and needs.
- Work constructively with colleagues to contribute ideas as well as listen to the ideas of others.
- Maintain teacher certification and strive to advance your degree.
- Articulate and integrate Christian faith into teaching and relationship with others. For More Information:
