Summary of Duties

The ideal candidate must be able to assist with feeding, cleaning, walking, and caring for all Sugar Land animals in the Animal Services Shelter. The ideal candidate must maintain a knowledge and appreciation of Sugar Land and its basic safety standards and practices. An understanding of Animal adoption operations is a must for this candidate. We are looking for a candidate that can work independently and in a team with minimal supervision. The perfect candidate will have experience with animal shelter operations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness, and dependability.
We are looking for someone who can provide exceptional customer service for a variety of coworkers, supervisors and the general public with professionalism and patience. Minimum Qualifications
What We Need from You as Kennel Technician
As our Kennel Technician, you will represent the City of Sugar Land Animal Services Division. You will be expected to answer incoming calls, take messages for staff and answer basic questions from visitors to the Animal Shelter. You will be responsible for assisting the Veterinary Technician with the administration of medications indicated by the contracted Veterinarian. Most of your day will be spent around animals. This position will enhance team building skills and your knowledge of animal operations. It is your priority to deliver excellent customer service to our citizens while maintaining the City of Sugar Land's success with our Animal Shelter.
The ideal candidate must be extremely organized and able to manage the logistics of multiple duties with professionalism and strong communication skills. In addition, they will have a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment-both critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability. Ideal candidates will also look for innovative, trailblazing solutions to challenges We are looking for someone who can establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and work effectively with all levels of employees and management.

- High School or GED Certificate required.
- One year of experience working with animal services required.
- Data entry or administrative experience is preferred.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver License
