Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:
- Ensure that animal care, safety, and welfare is a top priority, ensuring the health and well-being of pets entrusted to the shelter.
- Investigate all animal complaints, investigate accidents, maintain good records, and report to the appropriate authorities.
- Investigate and resolve any complaints or complaints about animal care, temperament, or behavior.
- Keep all animal enclosures in good repair, clean, and sanitary conditions.
- Prepare kennel areas and animal enclosures for animal care work. Insure that animal waste disposal is clean and sanitary.
- Keep animal areas free of offensive odors.
- Keep animals safe, including monitoring animal behavior to avoid dangerous situations.
- Handle animals in a gentle manner at all times, including when handling sick or injured animals.
- Support care, cleanliness, and enrichment in our dog kennels in an atmosphere of compassion and efficiency while maintaining high levels of safety and following policies and procedures.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, maintaining hygiene standards.
- Maintain proper levels of food and water.
- Assist with housekeeping and duties to maintain upkeep of dog and cat areas.
- Be physically able to lift and move dogs up to 75 pounds.
- Assist in feeding dogs, including preparing meals and carrying food to dogs and cats.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
