Kennel Attendant

Townhouse for Dogs & Cats in Westport is seeking a part-time Kennel Assistant to provide exceptional animal care in a busy boutique Boarding, Grooming & Training facility.

Candidates must be comfortable working with all breeds, temperaments and dogs of all sizes, cats, and the occasional small exotic pet indoors and outdoors (all seasons).

Professional dog handling experience is preferred, but we offer training and advancement. Shifts are generally 6 or 9 hours, on your feet, physically active except during breaks.

Weekdays: AM = 7AM-1PM; PM = 1PM-7PM.
Weekends: 8AM-5PM.

*One weekend shift a week and holiday vacation & school breaks are required.*

A significant portion of time is spent on making (and maintaining) a clean environment for animals. If you don’t like cleaning, this position isn’t for you. This is a physically demanding job for those with stamina who love animals care-taking, like to be active, who thrive in a dynamic, "think-on-your-feet”, no-day-is-the-exact-same, NON-desk work.

REQUIREMENTS:

• CAN DO HARD WORK THE WHOLE SHIFT
• ABLE TO LIFT 50 LBS
• WALK BACK & FORTH .5 ACRES, UP AND DOWN STAIRS
• ADAPTS TO 4 SEASON WEATHER
• NOT AFRAID OF DOGS, CATS or EXOTICS
• HIGHLY RESPONSIBLE (including reliable transportation)
• OVERALL LOVE & RESPECT FOR ANIMALS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• MEAL PREPARATION and regular watering
• KENNEL CLEANING, laundry, dishes, kennel
• PICKING UP MESSES, throughout the day
• MONITORING and reporting on animal’s health & behavior
• SOCIALIZING animals in Playtime & Daycare groups
• TRACKING identification/records/meds & whereabouts

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 33 per week
