Kimberly-Clark (K-C) is looking for an ambitious, self-driven and talented individual to join our NA Energy Indirect Procurement team. You will make a difference by leading all aspects of our North America Energy Management Supply category supporting both our Consumer and Professional business segments. This position has direct accountability for the strategic sourcing of up to $270 million annually energy spend natural gas & electricity across a complex regional supply base, including the oversight and management of several long-term sustainable energy power purchase agreements and an active natural gas hedging program. The successful candidate must take business requirements into account to develop a category management plan with accompanying sourcing strategies to deliver the best total value for Kimberly-Clark. The role requires a high level of competence in energy management; including conservation, sustainability, regulated and non-regulated markets, Inter-State supply and utility interconnection agreements. Leading our lobbyist and member industrial groups to influence rate and tarrif development. . The business stakeholders rely on the individual to apply extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals. The individual must have the ability to plan future business needs and determine individual objectives to achieve them.


The role requires key stakeholder engagement to develop effective energy sourcing and supplier management strategies. The incumbent will lead initiatives that enable revenue growth, margin improvement, improve cashflow, achieve supply security, price risk management and long-term sustainable solutions.


In the Energy and Utility role you will:

  • Serve as a change agent for the Procurement organization, with a strong ownership mentality and willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders on Energy & Utilities needs and strategy (e.g., collect business requirements), with an ability to work effectively in a global matrix structure.
  • Develop KCNA category strategy based on input from Amplified Commodity Management, analysis of supplier landscape and market dynamics, etc.
  • Design and execute KCNA energy strategies for optimum sourcing.
  • Lead execution of category strategy initiatives
  • Manage senior supplier relationships.
  • Manage, track, and report on KCNA Energy & Utilities cost / sourcing initiatives & results.
  • Identify opportunities and drive initiatives to simplify / standardize ways of working.
  • Manage energy contracts, primarily electricity and natural gas, plus water and sewer services with local utilities for all North American sites (manufacturing facilities, distribution warehouses, office, and sales locations).
  • Coordinate with third-party broker(s) to sell excess combined heat and power generated electricity and RECs for certain manufacturing locations.
  • Work with Sustainability teams to identify and implement long-term greenhouse gas reduction programs, such as renewable energy power purchase agreements.
  • Identify and implement combined heat and power projects.
  • Identify and implement alternative energy projects, for example landfill gas, biogas, geothermal, and on-site solar power.
  • Be K-C’s representative in state and federal industrial energy groups. Seek leadership and influencer roles (elected positions) as experience grows.
  • Set up utility contracts for new sites.
  • Contract with utility companies to build/relocate power transmission lines and natural gas pipelines/meter stations on K-C property when needed.
  • Manage category risk around commodity price spikes, supply shortages, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Lead the business and stakeholders with commodity analysis and forecasting, financial forecasting, inflation reporting and spend/supplier analytics.
  • Ensure compliance to K-C Policies and internal controls.


The successful candidate will join the KCNA Procurement team and report to the In-directs Energy Leader.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in business, supply chain, electrical engineering or related discipline a plus. An MBA is a plus.
  • Typically, a minimum of 5 + years of procurement, energy management and/or related business experience
  • Intellectually curious, strong analytical skills
  • Business acumen, excellent communication skills (both written and oral) able to communicate up and across the organization, cross functional collaboration & influencing, functional and technical awareness.
  • Strong strategic sourcing, negotiation, project management, process improvement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a heavily matrixed organization, and effectively manage through ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in an energy commodity management role.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.
