Rental Associate Mission:
The Rental Associate plays a pivotal role in SUP Englewood’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our guests and park visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries about SUP Englewood’s services from potential and existing clients, as well as park visitors.
- Prepare equipment for rentals and tours, which includes cleaning and organizing kayaks, paddle boards, life vests, and safety equipment.
- Collaboratively work with the team to stage and transport equipment to and from the water.
- Offer guests access to SUP Englewood’s complimentary services, such as dry bags, waterproof phone cases, glasses straps, water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
- Provide guests with an overview of the paddling area, potential hazards, and distribute paddling maps.
- Ensure all guests sign the necessary waivers in compliance with law SB606 and provide safety briefings after completing the Boater Safety Course.
- Monitor weather conditions continuously and communicate any changes that might affect guest safety to management and lead staff.
Requirements:
- Prior customer service experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors, especially in extreme weather conditions.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting changing weather conditions and using weather apps on Apple devices.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to stay in touch with management throughout shifts via phone calls and texts.
- Efficient multitasking abilities and a friendly attitude towards park visitors and SUP Englewood guests.
- Ability to work independently to acquire certifications such as a boater safety card and other policy training requirements.
Scheduling:
- Seasonal position, typically busier from March through July.
- Part-time role, averaging 20-25 hours per week.
- Weather-dependent; shifts may be canceled due to adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, lightning, storms, or extreme cold.
Everyone at SUP Englewood, regardless of their position, collaborates in the morning and afternoon to load and unload equipment. This team effort ensures smooth operations and fosters a sense of unity and shared responsibility.
Kayak Tour Guide Mission:
The Kayak Tour Guide plays a crucial role in SUP Englewood’s commitment to promoting conservation of our local waterways and providing guests with a memorable and educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize customer safety on the water by continuously monitoring weather conditions, including changes in cloud formations and potential lightning threats.
- Engage with guests to understand their preferences, such as paddling pace and distance, and adjust the tour accordingly to ensure a family-friendly experience.
- Provide factual environmental education, emphasizing the importance of conservation.
- Adhere to ethical eco-tour guidelines, ensuring no marine life is harmed. This includes:
- Maintaining appropriate distances from marine mammals as per the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
- Ensuring guests do not harass marine life and that all live shells remain in the water.
Requirements:
- Possession of a Florida Master Naturalist Certification or National Association for Interpretation CIG.
- At least one paddling certification from ACA, ASI, or PaddleFit.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors in extreme heat and for extended periods.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting changing weather conditions.
- SUP Englewood does promote Rental Associates with a desire to work as Kayak Tour Guides and/or Paddle Board Instructors. It is essential that staff have the proper training and certifications prior to independence leading groups.
