Junior Network Specialist

• Active DOD Secret Clearance

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2+ years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Currently possess a DoD Secret security clearance
• Active CompTIA Security + or CCNP Security certification

Work Experience & Skill Requirements

• Knowledge of LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.
• Understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation.
• Familiar with programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting encryption devices (KG-175D, KG-250x, KG-175G, etc.) at network points of presence including management via GEM-X.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor data or infrastructure system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues.
• Identify issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalate when necessary.
• Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures; escalate as appropriate.
• Initiate resolution as appropriate for enterprise level routers and switches.
• Interface with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.
• Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI's) as directed by management.
• Maintain required security posture on all network equipment in accordance with DoD and local command mandates and requirements, including updates, STIGs, IOS upgrades, and other basic network security requirements.
• Install, configure, and maintain encryption devices (KG-175D, KG-250x, KG-175G, etc.) at network points of presence including management via GEM-X.
• Support special projects and day-to-day operations as needed or assigned by the site lead
• Support on-call rotation schedule

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
