Job duties and responsibilities
The IT/Network Specialist will report directly to the president and should command the appropriate business acumen required of a fast paced and growing technology firm. The IT/Network Specialist will build, maintain, and improve the technical systems and networks of a company to ensure all employees have the technology they need to complete their work and the organization’s important files and information remain safe and intact. The IT/Network Specialist will have the following duties, but not limited to:
- Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems
- Develop customized data networks and set up user administration tools
- Use IT knowledge to develop company networks, coordinating with company leadership to identify network needs and providing assistance to employees and other individuals on how to use the network effectively; including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware
- Installing and configuring network equipment
- Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
- Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems
- Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking and computer issues to other employees and management
- Implementing disaster recovery procedures
- Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
- Implement security measures
- Audit system behavior and monitor firewalls to protect sensitive information and uphold cybersecurity protocols.
- Monitor security certificates and company compliance of requirements
- Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items
IT Specialist certifications, skills and qualifications
An effective IT Specialist uses a variety of soft skills, technical skills and industry knowledge to provide the most efficient and comprehensive support they can. These skills include:
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, server maintenance; set-up & Configurations, software and programming
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Good organization, time management and prioritization
- Efficient troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing and active listening
- Great customer service and interpersonal skills
- Certified via Cisco & CompTIA recommended
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,046.73 - $73,518.65 per year
