Description
Purpose of this Job:
Responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP. Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation. Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Updates data servers and network equipment
- Collaborates with network architects on network optimization
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem-resolution
- Quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
Requirements
Education/Experience:
- BA in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in network administration
- LAN/WAN experience
- Active Directory and Cisco Meraki experience a plus
Licenses or Certifications:
- CCNA, CCNP, or similar is preferred.
