JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Sponsored Programs at Penn State seeks a Junior Negotiatorfor their team. The individual in the position will interact on a regular basis with faculty, university administrative offices, and external sponsors.
This role can be performed onsite in-person, or as a hybrid of remote and onsite, or can be fully remote within the US. Standard work times are in EST.
Responsibilities: The primary focus will be to review and process grant agreements from federal agencies, prepare subawards, and process subaward closeouts. This person may also assist with the negotiation of Grants and Contracts in compliance with University policy, process modifications to existing agreements, and advise faculty and college coordinators in interpreting and adhering to sponsor and University guidelines.
Education and Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher and 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate must have self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and maintain a large volume workload in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to detail; have the ability to maintain effective relationships with peers and others in a diverse environment, support team decisions and follow through with job responsibilities while continuously building on current job knowledge; ability to interpret information, ideas and instructions clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, determine causes of unusual occurrences and apply standard principles and practices to determine and implement solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Familiarity with federal government regulations highly preferred, especially the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Fluency in a foreign language preferred. Proposal preparation and post award management experience preferred. Familiarity with Strategic Information Management System (SIMS), and completion of the ACES program preferred.
