Junior High Science Teacher (Grades 7-8)

The mission of The Vanguard School is to help guide students in development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs.

General Purpose:  The Junior High Science Teacher for 2024-2025 School Year is responsible for developing in each student an understanding of science according to our curriculum such that the student is both competent and confident in their understanding and application of physics.  

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science field, is required. 

No teaching license or teaching certificate required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

• Intermediate knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, and related mathematics
• Safety issues related to science labs and investigations
• Methods of research in the sciences, including laboratory and research techniques and the use of associated technology
• History and philosophy of science
• Intermediate knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, and related mathematics
• Safety issues related to science labs and investigations
• Methods of research in the sciences, including laboratory and research techniques and the use of associated technology
• History and philosophy of science
• Plans curriculum and instruction 
• Delivers effective instruction 
• Manages classroom climate and operation 
• Promotes achievement 
• Meets professional responsibilities 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science field, with at least 36 semester hours in science courses
• Will need to attend AP Chemistry training.
• Colorado teaching license is not required. 

Experience:

Prior teaching experience preferred, but is not required

Salary:

$45,000 per year, based on ESSA qualifications.
