About Us: Southwood Financial is a private student loan administrator that manages distressed receivables and shepherds the borrowers to financial stability. At Southwood Financial, we rely on a meticulous financial system to drive our business forward. The accounting department keeps that system running smoothly by managing cash flow and paying vendors and suppliers. We are searching for a skilled financial specialist to join our accounting team to help prepare internal reports as well as external reports and state filing requirements in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. We are searching for a self-driven and competent Financial Analyst to join our team!
Responsibilities
- Gather financial data to complete reports and projections
- Maintain consumer finance related state licenses by preparing license renewal applications, supporting documents and periodic reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings
- Maintain state tax filings and reporting requirements
- Assist with daily activities as needed and monthly reporting
- Effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field with 2-3 years’ experience
- Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
- Superb time management skills and detail orientation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and partner information.
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices
- Willingness to learn new skills as needed.
- Strong mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Work is in a typical office environment, prolonged sitting required (1-2 hours at a time); ability to move around the office to retrieve files, attend meetings in other areas, etc.; lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
