Position Summary
NexTier OFS is seeking a Junior Electrical Controls Engineer/Designer to design and sustain control systems used on mobile oilfield service equipment. The Candidate should be familiar with single-module computers, various types of sensors, MIL standard connectors, control interface cabling, and networking equipment.
Systems are designed in-house with the selection of commercial components along with the packaging design of the equipment. Candidate should be highly skilled in parametric design modeling that is used in conjunction with our product lifecycle management system. The candidate will play a vital role in product development while maintaining the integrity of design documentation and adhering to company standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Design new and sustainable electrical/electronic control systems.
- Develop, release, and sustain engineering design files (drawings, data sheets, and BOM)
- Select appropriate enclosures and produce machining drawings required for the packaging of control systems.
- Analyze electrical parameters to maintain compliance with the supplied power source(s).
- Selection of data acquisition, computers and networking equipment used in Data Monitoring job control units.
- Create and maintain cable drawings using Creo for the existing cables; conduct tolerance analysis to ensure the designs meet quality and performance standards.
- Establish and participate in design reviews, providing technical support to the engineering and manufacturing teams, both in-house and in the field.
- Optimize design processes and workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Communicate effectively with manufacturers, suppliers, and field technical personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Pro Engineering Creo, Windchill, and AutoCAD
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools along with Visio
- Knowledge and experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- Experience with powertrain (engine & transmission) control and communication systems (e.g., CAN, J1939)
- Detail-oriented with strong teamwork abilities
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or product engineering environment
- Effective communication skills
Minimum Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering is required.
- Master's degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering is preferred.
Minimum Required Work Experience
- 1 years of experience in the design and maintenance of electronic control systems is required.
- Previous experience within the oilfield services industry including hydraulic fracturing is preferred.
