What you will do

In this vital role you will be leading HR business support for Amgen’s Global Marketing, Access & Capabilities (“GMAC”), Biosimilars Business Unit (“BBU), and Global Government Affairs & Policy (“GGA&P”) organizations encompassing approximately 60 executives and 700 employees spread across 30+ countries globally.
This position will lead the Human Resources activities for the GMAC, BBU and GGA&P organizations at Amgen. This senior level position reports to the GCO Vice President of Human Resources in Thousand Oaks, California. This role is a member of the Senior Leadership Teams for each of the client organizations, as well as the GCO HR Senior Leadership Team. The role is supported by two full time and one part time HRBPs.
Responsibilities
In this role, Director Human Resources - HRBP will help clients achieve key business objectives and increase the effectiveness of their organizations through the following:
Operate as an HR lead for Amgen’s Operating Model and the successful movement of commercial and enabling function talents across teams and geographies.
Partner with business leadership teams to define a vision that drives innovation, growth and employee engagement.
Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and employees guiding the execution of HR programs, processes, communications, and strategic initiatives
Combine data insights and people insights to coach and guide clients on HR and business-related issues to effect positive change in the organization, including shaping and leading organizational effectiveness for client groups through organizational design and workforce planning.
Shape and foster a high performing and highly engaged culture. Lead talent management processes to strengthen leadership pipeline. Ensure alignment with Amgen’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Partner with leaders to acquire, develop, engage and retain talent. Ensure talent management and succession planning activities for client groups for purpose of identifying leadership gaps and solutions – with a focus on partnering with HRBPs supporting the commercial US Business Operations (“USBO”) and JAPAC and ELMAC Regions to ensure a strong exchange of talent across GCO.
In partnership with HR centers of expertise, oversee leadership development, talent management, engagement and retention, and ongoing organizational design and/or optimization efforts in client organizations
Partner with Amgen’s talent acquisition organization to identify and attract top external executive talent to key leadership roles.
Support the global delivery of HR initiatives, identifying and managing opportunities in client group to support the achievement of strategic goals
Stay current on leading talent trends and deliver practical and insightful thought leadership, including the development and personal growth of our people, with the objective of enabling our people to excel.
Actively contribute to and collaborate with the broader HR team – sharing knowledge and practices that will help HR be more effective to the entire organization
Manage, mentor and coach direct report team to assure their individual and collective professional growth and career success.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Human Resources experience
Or
Master’s degree and 8 years of Human Resources experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Human Resources experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or MBA
10+ years of experience in Human Resources handling complex issues in a fast paced, rapidly changing, high technical or pharmaceutical biotech environment
Experience working outside the United States, ideally in role(s) that facilitated talent moves across regions and geographies
Experience working in a pharmaceutical commercial organization
Broad understanding of and appreciation for all Human Resources components
Prior management experience leading teams of HR professionals
Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and develop strategic and practical solutions to tangible business challenges, sound knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations, and business practices related to the field of Human Resources
Enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
Strong internal and external customer service focus
Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement
Strong analytical, problem solving, consulting, and project management skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact with and influence all levels of management, and executives

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
