Momentum Finance, LLC is looking for a professional Controller who values innovation and loves working with Founders and their Startups.
Momentum Finance is a next-generation boutique financial advisory firm designed to serve and evolve with the Founder’s Company from well funded Paper Napkin to Series B.

Over time, the primary responsibilities will include working with our Clients and being the primary point of contact, including reviewing financial statements and reconciliations. You will project manage a portfolio of our clients. Your experience in working with different start-up companies will improve your recognition / solution of common issues.
We require a rock-solid understanding of general accounting concepts (GAAP), a keen eye for detail and tenacity towards meeting (or beating ;) deadlines.
Your qualifications are expected to show that you have a thorough knowledge of QuickBooks Online, an advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables are just the tip of the iceberg of your knowledge) and familiarity with Google Apps.
We provide training for our core software platforms, including Asana, Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto and SaaSOptics (just to name a few). Your ability to multi-task and self-motivate are requisite for joining our Team.
This is an hourly contract position with Momentum Finance.
We work remotely the majority of the time.
Example Responsibilities:
- Weekly Client Zoom Calls
- Review Vendor Invoices in Bill.com
- Review weekly reports in Google Sheets
- Keep up with registration / tax deadlines for Clients
- Oversee Month End Close process for a specific set of Clients
- Work with Clients to collect information necessary for weekly reconciliations
- Document processes and procedures, recognize and document process improvements
Desired Qualifications
Our optimal Controller has an outgoing personality and an Associate's degree in accounting, as well as a thorough knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. Prior experience with QuickBooks Online Plus is essential, preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of our preferred platforms including Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto and Asana. The candidate needs to demonstrate rock solid Excel skills, advanced skills preferred.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Ability to demonstrate persistence to achieve quality
- Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting / CPA / CMA preferred
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with professionalism
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
- Above average knowledge of Excel, pivot tables and vlookup essential
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles
- Fluent in English - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting / Controller experience including AP / AR / Payroll
- Preference will be given to candidates with a ProAdvisor designation with QuickBooks Online
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns
