Junior Buyer

Our purpose is to design and deliver innovative solutions to protect the traveling public and road workers by making transportation safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

 

Junior Buyer Job Summary:

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for the correct candidate. Purchase goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and ensuring continuity of supply.

 

Junior Buyer Job Duties:
  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Generate and release Purchase Orders (PO) and receive the supplier's acknowledgment of PO receipt.
  • Ensuring information on purchase orders is correct, complete, and accurately reflects the specific requirements of the material requisition.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure purchase orders have the correct price, freight charge, and delivery date.
  • Communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
  • Work with supply chain coordinators and other departments to mitigate risks and ensure smooth operations.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement department and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
  • Expedite shipping and deliveries when needed, monitor usage inconsistencies, price changes, and vendor backorders.
  • Work with inventory control to resolve supplier-related inventory discrepancies.
  • Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and maintain good communication.
  Junior Buyer Requirements:
  • Degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
  • Ability to work independently but as part of a team concept.
  • Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and related database systems.
  • Experience in JD Edwards or other ERP systems is highly preferred.
