Description

Responsible for performing a variety of accounting clerical tasks that relate to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. 

Requirements

Essential Job Functions

The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.

· Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.

· Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.

· Pays Vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.

· Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.

· Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.

· Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.

· Maintains historical records by scanning or filing documents.

· Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.

· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations. 

· Report any Animal Welfare related issues to management immediately.

· Report any Food Safety related issues to management immediately. 

· Report any damages to company equipment to management immediately.

· Maintain regular and punctual attendance as scheduled.

· Comply with all company policies and procedures.

· Completes other duties as assigned. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

· AA or BS/BA degree in accounting or related field preferred.

· Minimum 2 years of equivalent accounts payable experience required; manufacturing facility preferred.

· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities in basic accounts payable and accounting policy.

· Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

· Ability to legibly write entries for record keeping. 

· Ability to handle and follow through on multiple projects simultaneously.

· Exceptional personal computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word.

· Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

· Ability to satisfy all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

 

Physical Demands

The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

· Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, calculators, filing cabinets. 

· Largely a sedentary role and would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. With the ability to move 20 pounds seldomly.

· The ability to safely ascend/descend stairs multiple times daily.

· Frequently communicates to employees, clients, or others where employee must be able to   exchange accurate information.
