QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree/Bachelor's Degree plus related experience in Social Work or Health, Education, Counseling, or Nursing related field required. Experience with community outreach, advising, instruction, and knowledge of the local area's programs and services strongly preferred. Possession of valid Maryland Driver's License required.

JOB GOAL:
1. Understand and be committed to the overall Philosophy of Family Support.
2. Work cooperatively with consultants who are responsible for implementation and evaluation of the Family Support Program.
3. Maintain respect for confidentiality of information divulged by or on behalf of participants.
4. Possess the ability to relate to people of diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
5. Be willing and able to do aggressive outreach and recruitment.
6. Model appropriate interaction with young children and parents.
7. To improve school readiness through early intervention, provide comprehensive services to families and support programs in the community that serve young children and their families.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and be knowledgeable of Kent County Public Schools' mission and programs.
- Understand and commit to the mission of the Judy Center.
- Identify potential Judy Center participants (young parents, pregnant teens, children ages 0-3) who need health, employment, socialization, and/or education services and who may be unable or unwilling to travel to the Center.
• Influence the quality of parent, child, and family interactions.
• Brings health, employment, socialization, and/or education services to participants' homes of hard-to-reach families.
- Assist participants with parenting skills, or other needs such as provision of food, heat, baby supplies or furniture.
- Develop monthly Judy Center newsletters.
- Plan monthly story times.
- Counsel participants and provide prompting/coordination of needed services and activities such as doctor's appointments, job interviews, tutoring, GED classes.
- Offer flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of working families, and be available for regular evening programming throughout the year.
- Work closely with the IRT for the Judy Center at H. H. Garnett Elementary to devise, plan and implement parent/child activity nights and family nights to foster and develop positive parent/child relationship.
- Maintain data collection for MSDE.
- Work with other agencies to improve both the quantity and quality of home intervention services provided by the respective organizations.
- Attend Judy Center state meetings when applicable.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As found in the Agreement Between the Kent County Teacher's Association and The Board of Education of Kent County. Ten (10) month position.
SALARY LANE: Teacher's Lane. Step established by the Superintendent.
BARGAINING UNIT: Kent County Teacher's Association.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
