04/19/2024Ottawa Hills Local Schools is pleased to announce an opportunity for any qualified person interested in working with our Jr/Sr High school students to explore various business industries through the lens of business literacy, design thinking, and Entrepreneurship. The 2024-2025 school year will be a transition period during which the new hire will help the district steer the transformation of its current offerings in exciting new directions. Current courses may include Accounting, Career Exploration, Entrepreneurship, Personal Finance, and Professional Networking & Communication.
Qualified candidates will hold an appropriate teaching credential to teach these classes. Preferred candidates will meet one or more of the following criteria:
- excellent written communication skills
- excellent math skills
- strong community networking skills
- business experience (e.g. marketing, product development, customer service, business ownership)
- experience in or a vision for program development
- willingness to continue professional education as program needs evolve
- knowledge of design thinking
- interdisciplinary approach to teaching and curriculum development
- experience co-teaching
- teaching experience within a Career Technical Education program
- a clear understanding of current Ohio graduation requirements and knowledge of various Industry Recognized Credentials
Resources that will be available to this position for curriculum development include the following:
- Step Lab (classroom designed workplace, hands-on curriculum)
- Foundry Cafe (fully functioning cafe)
- A 360 Room (a virtual reality immersion classroom)
- Maker Place (which includes laser cutters, 3D printers, traditional household technology)
Non-traditional candidates are encouraged to apply.
Located in the Village of Ottawa Hills in northwest Ohio, Ottawa Hills Local Schools is a high-performing school district of about 1,040 students. We are the only school district in Ohio to receive all A's for five consecutive years on the state Department of Education's School Report Card. Our Elementary School also received an overall grade of "A" on this year's Report Card.
