Peraton is seeking a Jr-Level Software Engineer to support the Lunar Gateway Program and the International Space Station (ISS) for our NASA customer in Houston, TX, at the Electronic Systems Test Laboratory (ESTL), Johnson Space Center. Position has a 9/80 work schedule onsite at the Johnson Space Center with some occasional remote work and limited travel. Candidate must be available for full time start date in February 2024.
As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.
The ESTL is a NASA facility where spacecraft communications systems are interfaced with relay satellites and ground systems for end-to-end testing in a controlled RF environment.
Assignments will include a variety of engineering tasks such as the following:
- Develop and integrate software to control RF communications hardware and data handling systems
- Develop system requirements and interface documentation
- Configure and manage Linux environments and virtual machines for software development
- Configure and manage networking devices within integrated RF communications test sets
- Create software applications that control RF test equipment
- Perform spacecraft communications testing with relay satellites and ground systems for end-to-end testing in the ESTL.
- Interface with NASA civil servant personnel and contractors
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- A BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related technical Engineering discipline, and 2+ years of directly related professional experience, or MS degree and 0 - 2 years of experience
- Experience or familiarity in the following areas:
- Software development and familiarity with C++, Python, HTML, JavaScript
- Linux and Windows operating systems
- Networking protocols, routing, VLANs, etc.
- Creating technical documents and delivering presentations
- This position requires ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance, which will require a US Citizen and proof of citizenship.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while understanding broader technical issues.
- Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including making presentations.

Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
