As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager and enthusiastic Cost Estimator to join our successful Novi team immediately. We are looking for a talented individual with solid professional skills in manufacturing.

This role is primarily responsible for preparing quotes and associated documents by collaboration with our Sales, Engineering and Supply Chain Departments in support of securing new business at a price point that satisfies our customer’s and our financial needs. This position will develop quotes, quote letters and internal presentations within a two-week time frame to support the Sales team.

This position reports to the Manager of Pricing and Business Analytics.

What you will be doing:

• Process incoming requests for quotes, developing it from a drawing to a manufacturing plan and quote letter; average of 10 quotes/month.
• Calculate material usage based on engineering drawings; estimated annual usage; and existing material calculators.
• Tracking all open quotes and maintaining current files of quotations
• Document all assumptions made during quote process.
• Communicate with all members of the sales team on a daily basis about the status of open quotes.
• Use existing pricing from ERP or seeking quotes to ensure accurately quoted materials.
• Present completed quotes in a weekly quote review meeting
• Continuous improvement of quote materials
• Gain a deep knowledge and understanding of our manufacturing processes and supply base.
• Learn and apply new manufacturing methods and suppliers to quote activities.
• Support sales team by filling out customer documents and using portals as needed.
• Participate in Sales Meetings & Opportunity Reviews to gain awareness of sales strategy and upcoming quotes.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.

What you bring along:

• Degree (2 or 4 year) in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or commensurate experience
• At least 3 years’ experience in manufacturing
• At least 1 years’ experience in cost estimation
• Proficient with Microsoft office suite
• Familiarity with metal fabrication such as bending, stamping, welding and laser cutting.
• Capable of multi-tasking as there will always be multiple open quotes at different stages in the quote process.
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment
• Good mathematical and mechanical aptitude
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Able to work under tight schedules.
• Able to accept directions and change directions as required.
• Excellent English language, communication, and presentation skills (both verbal and written)
