Position: Junior SQL Database Administrator [Requisition: *202307346*

Program Support Description:

The United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) is a major command of the United States Army headquartered at Fort Eustis, Virginia. It is charged with overseeing the training of Army forces and the development of operational doctrine. TRADOC recruits, trains, educates, develops, and builds the Army, establishes standards, drives improvement, and leads change to ensure the Army can deter, fight, and win on any battlefield now and into the future. The objective of the TRADOC Cloud & Ancillary Support Services (TCASS) contract is to support cloud migration planning services including Inventory (Users, Applications, Infrastructure, Security & Privacy, Services Management); Application Mapping and Assessment; Migration Planning, Migration Services, and Cloud Support Services, Operations & Maintenance (CSS-O&M). This effort also includes the benefit of serving as an integrated solution provider to support the TRADOC DCS G6 as it executes the Army’s directives for cloud migration, data center consolidation, data management, portfolio management, risk management framework, and information system continuous monitoring.

Job Description:

· Assist in managing, securing, and optimizing Azure SQL databases to ensure performance and availability in a cloud-based environment.

· Support the design and implementation of database solutions across on-premises and Azure environments, focusing on availability, security, and performance.

· Contribute to deploying and managing Microsoft SQL PaaS solutions within the Microsoft Azure Government cloud.

· Participate in Azure infrastructure projects, assisting with technical tasks and coordination.

· Assist with database security and integrity, including managing permissions and implementing access controls in line with DoD standards and continuous monitoring tracking via POA&M management.

· Help optimize database performance across both on-premises and Azure environments, addressing issues related to CPU, memory, I/O, and disk space.

· Support the development of high-availability and disaster recovery plans using Azure's capabilities.

· Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as backup/recovery and performance tuning.

· Contribute to operational automation through scripting, and assist in setting up alerts and logging in Azure.

· Support development teams by assisting in database design, data archiving, and release activities.

Education: BA/BS or higher in a relevant field

Experience:

· 1-3 years of relevant experience with a MA/MS, or 3-5 years with a BA/BS, particularly in database administration roles focusing on Microsoft SQL and Azure SQL Database environments.

Certifications:

· Must hold current or obtain within 90 days of start date IAT Level II (Security+ or higher)

· Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or must obtain within 90 days of start date.

· Additional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) are a plus.

Clearance Required: Candidate must be a US Citizen, and have at least a SECRET clearance.
