Journeyman Electrician-Off Shift

Essential Job Functions:

1. Troubleshoot and repair plant electrical and PLC (electrical circuits) to resolution with no oversite: having a sound theory of the mode of failure before replacement equipment is installed.
2. Obtain ordering data for parts: researching to determine replacement parts or equipment.
3. Research using the web, manuals, calling vendors, or other means to aid in troubleshooting and repairs.
4. Read and understand the plant procedures pertaining to the Journeyman Electrician position and apply these procedures to daily work activities.
5. Mark up prints, procedures, or other documents with corrections and submit for revision.
6. Complete and maintain all training required for the Journeyman Electrician position, by Kalsec's provision.
7. Interface with the plant's CMMS system. This includes, but is not limited to, finding work orders, procedures, or other documents related to the performance of the Journeyman Electrician position.
8. Correctly utilize test equipment to troubleshoot and repair plant equipment.
9. Communicate with all departments to aid in scheduling, troubleshooting and the repair of plant equipment.
10. Interface with the PLC systems to aid in the troubleshooting and repair of plant electrical equipment,
11. Apply Quality Assurance and Food Defense policies to all aspects of the Journeyman Electrician position.
12. Apply all MIOSHA, and Kalsec Inc. safety rules/regulations to all tasks performed.
13. Medically and physically qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
14. Qualify to enter confined spaces per the Kalsec Inc. Confined Space program.
15. Work in cold and hot environments, indoors and outdoors, including inclement weather.
16. Frequently and for extended periods of time, sit, stand, reach, kneel, bend over, or climb ladders.
17. Be able to lift to 50 lbs.
18. Maintain a balance between a healthy quality of life with family, and work.
19. Demonstrate leadership and ownership of plant systems and electrical equipment.
20. Demonstrate leadership in safety.
21. Perform duties to a high standard of excellence, not settling for a minimum quality of work.

Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:

• State of Michigan issued electrical license (With industrial experience).
• Experience in and the understanding of troubleshooting best practices for manufacturing systems and equipment.
• Must be able to read P&ID's, electrical diagrams/drawings, schematics, loop drawings, and electrical schedules.
• Experience with hazardous classified locations, and Intrinsically Safe requirements.

Desired:

• Five (5) years of Journeyman Electrician experience.
• Well versed in good document recording practices.
• Background in CMMS systems and their function in the plant.
• Basic understanding of the requirements of Arc Flash.
• Basic understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Preferred background in Quality Assurance, Food Defense, and Safe Quality Foods.
• Well versed in the requirements of OSHA and MIOSHA as they apply to the Journeyman Electrician position. This includes Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
• Basic understanding of Computer software, MS Office, and MS Outlook.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Work autonomously to perform all electrical work required at the Kalsec facility,
including but not limited to:

• Conduit installations for power, controls, or network wiring
• Wiring installations in conduit systems and control panels
• Terminations of all wiring upon initial project installation or electrical equipment repair
• Gather field data as requested by engineering to assist with project designs
• Installation of electrical wiring projects from engineering for installations of new devices and equipment
• Assist with project startup checkout as it applies to listed electrical tasks and equipment
• Using Computer based controls such as HMI's, PLC's, etc. to troubleshoot devices
• Assist the IS Department with wiring or devices related to the network

Troubleshoot, repair, or replace the following:

• Circuits related to motors and motor controls, including PLC wiring
• Area, tank, and task specific lighting, and associated lighting controls
• Solenoid valves that are not an integral part of a control valve pack
  
  • This would include solenoids for auto fillers, slide gates, hydraulics, baghouse pulses
• Cords and cords end for equipment, including instruments
• Overhead doors and controls
• Photo eyes and photocells
• Proximity switches
• Motor connections and motor controls (VFD, start/stop switches, etc.)
• Transformers for power distribution and power controls
• Perform troubleshooting and repair of operational interlock circuits and alarm circuits including audible and visual alarms.
