MISSION / SUMMARY:

The position of Journeyman Electrician is to provide skilled trade expertise along with multi-craft work experience to the Board Mill.  

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman status or greater of electrical trade

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Perform routine preventative maintenance one electrical systems
• Knowledge of AC and DC control systems
• Ability to Read drawings such as blue prints, electrical schematics, P&ID's (control loops), and ladder logic as an aid in troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot control systems. Control systems include PLCs, instrumentation, networked controllers, process controllers, hydraulic control valves, pneumatic control valves, motor starters, AC or DC motors and drives.
• Must be self-starter and must demonstrate the initiative to identify and solve problems. Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Solid verbal communication and listening skills to work effectively with various personnel in the plant such as production operators, supervisors, maintenance mechanics, and engineers.
• Ability to create, Evaluate and implement technical notes
• Ability to use force/jumper log
• Ability to install and repair conduit and wiring
• Ability to reference and use National Electrical code for installation and maintenance of electrical systems
• Performs journeyman level electrical work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems by inspecting and testing elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performing required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes, and providing an estimate of repair(and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform.
• Has the proven ability to work with hand tools, power tools and industrial test equipment

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

• Per CBA: ability to work multi schedules
  • Day shift
  • Unique 4 crew Dupont Schedule (allows 14 days off per month)
• Must be able to work flexible and on-call scheduling.
• Must be able to work rotating weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Standing for extended periods.
• Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
• Moving or lifting of equipment, materials, and tools up to 50 lbs repeatedly for an 12 hr. shift.
• Climbing extension ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within

confined areas.

• Work in buildings and areas of fluctuating temperature and weather.
• Job requires exposure to weather, dirt, grease, fumes and heat.
